Environmental Design and Performance Research Group

Trainees during a guest lecture at BRE watford

The Environmental Design and Performance Research Group (EDPRG) aims to facilitate an experimental learning hub where the research group members can collaborate and undertake practical research that learns from real life case studies. ERDG started in 2016 with research undertaken to identify sustainable design strategies that would deliver on low carbon and thermally comfortable buildings by investigating the performance of existing buildings and optimising the new-built building design. The research methodologies and results provide a platform for research-led teaching.

Areas of Expertise:

  • Sustainable design of the built environment
  • Low-carbon design and performance of buildings
  • Energy efficient retrofit of buildings
  • Green urban systems for climate change adaptation
  • Health and Wellbeing in Buildings
  • Green & Healthy building material solutions
  • Computational Environmental Design
  • Coastal engineering and natural disasters
