The Centre for Applied and Participatory Arts (CAPA) is an exciting new venture which develops socially-engaged arts practice with partners in publicly-funded services in Education and the NHS, third sector, non-profit organisations and NGOs. CAPA will deliver consultancy, research, training and CPD in a range of settings within UEL and beyond.

Senior Lecturer, Drama, Applied Theatre and Performance, University of East London.
Martin Heaney is currently working as an evaluator on Get Creative programme, a programme led by Creative Barking and Dagenham to support local artists to lead local cultural activity. Martin Heaney is Senior Lecturer in Applied Theatre at the University of East London. Until 2017, he was Co-Director of HertsCreation, a community interest company which develops creative learning programmes and works with the arts in a range of education settings.

Convenor of CAPA
Dominic is an academic, playwright and producer. He is currently a Reader in Theatre and Performance and Postgraduate Research Leader in the School of Arts and Digital Industries and leads the MA/ MFA Acting and Theatre Directing programmes. His research practice is focused on art form innovation and developing artists and audiences from BAME backgrounds for the arts.
