Your first-week checklist
CREATE YOUR TIMETABLEGenerate your personalised induction timetable on our website. It contains important information about things you need to attend, plus details of social events.
MONEY, MONEY, MONEYYou’ll need your Student ID card for everything important you do at UEL. Just take some proof of identity to your allocated enrolment centre.
GET InvolvedEnjoy our Welcome Weekend festival and Welcome Fair, but don’t stay on campus all week. Get out there and enjoy the most exciting quarter of the world’s greatest city!
Getting to the University
The University of East London has two large campuses - one in Docklands and one in Stratford, which includes our new University Square Stratford building in the town centre. Both Stratford and Docklands have great public transport links, so getting to us is easy.
Moving into halls
If you have a room in our Halls of Residence, you should arrive at your designated time slot during our Welcome Weekend to pick up your key.
You’re welcome to bring a car on to campus to drop off your luggage, but please be aware that there is limited space for unloading and parking on campus, and when welcoming our new arrivals it can get very busy.
Once you’ve unloaded and arrived in your new room, it’s time to familiarise yourself with your surroundings and introduce yourself to your flatmates or neighbours.
Check out our Accommodation page for more information about moving in.

Generate your induction timetable
You can use our online tool to create your own timetable. You will need to insert certain details such as your course, whether you are studying full-time or part-time, your status as a UK/EU or international student and whether you are living in halls or off campus.
Your timetable will include compulsory elements such as picking up your Student ID card and attending your course induction talk. There are also some special induction events for international students.
You’ll also be able to check the times and venues for optional events, such as the Freshers’ Fair and the various outings and social events taking place during your first week.
MSc Civil Engineering
“The day after I arrived at UEL was Induction Day. They made sure we were all mixed up in different groups, so we got to know new people. I went on the London tour that weekend, which was great fun. I had no relatives or friends at all in the UK, but they made it very easy me to settle in and get ready for my studies. A lot of universities don’t offer these services.”
Your student ID card
Your Student ID card is your passport to the University of East London. You will need to collect it during your first week. Treat it like you would a credit card, or your real passport. And save yourself hassle by not losing it!
Enjoy a packed social calendar during Freshers' Week
Take advantage of a busy calendar of social events during Freshers’ Week. It’s the perfect opportunity to meet like-minded people, join a club or society, familiarise yourself with your new surroundings and enjoy the friendly start-of-year atmosphere.
