What we're researching

The Applied Sport Sciences Research Group (ASSRG) investigates topics within sport and exercise physiology, biomechanics and psychology, along with strength and conditioning.

Aside from physiology, group members investigate strength and conditioning within combat sports; stereotype threat and its impact on performance; the psychological benefits of green exercise; healthy aging; injury prevention and rehabilitation.

Key research themes of the group include exercise for improved active health, performance sport/Talent ID, green/nature-based exercise, pedagogy and the student learning journey.

Clinical Exercise Physiology MSc

Girl smiling at camera
As a mature student already working in my chosen field, I wasn’t sure how I’d navigate the course while balancing work and study. But the encouragement of my tutors and their belief in my abilities made all the difference.

I genuinely enjoyed every part of the program. My tutors were knowledgeable, and always willing to help, which made the learning process more manageable and rewarding. I was able to grow academically and professionally, and I feel much more confident in my skills as a result.
