Opportunities to work with SRI
The SRI's focus on emerging environmental research fields and real-world urban and rural sustainability challenges provides an array of opportunities to work with partners and clients across the research community, industry, government and public agencies, charities and SME innovators.
Opportunities to work with SRI span partnering on collaborative research projects, PhD sponsoring, contract consultancy, use of our test sites and facilities and help with demonstrating and commercialising your innovations.

Research and innovation partnerships
The SRI has a recognised track record of both leading and being delivery partners on a range of national and European innovation grant projects - including ERDF, Innovate UK, Economic and Social Research Council, FP7, H2020 and Interreg. We understand how to deliver impact-led outcomes aligned with commissioning priorities while ensuring the operational and funding requirements of grant projects are adhered to.

Consultancy services and Contract research
If you are looking to commission a piece of commercial work, we can provide a professional service at competitive rates. Many of SRI's staff are renowned experts in their fields and we can draw on an extensive range of associates to meet exacting client needs.
PhD sponsorships
The SRI provides the ideal environment for applied research and has established collaborative relationships with leading businesses to co-sponsor PhDs in a broad range of disciplines across resources management and green infrastructure.
Test, processing and prototyping facilities
Our extensive laboratory facilities and equipment enable the SRI to deliver to a range of client specifications and cover three broad areas:
- Material characterization centre: equipped with a range of analytical instruments for research in materials and environmental science.
- Materials processing centre: equipped with a series of advanced milling, mixing and pelletising instruments which can be used to prepare a wide range of industrial by-products for further processing such as thermal treatment.
- Materials physical testing Lab: equipped to carry out tests on mechanical properties of materials such as compressive strength, Young's modulus, shear modulus, hardness, etc.

Demonstration sites
The SRI has access to a range of field sites, including sites on the UEL Docklands campus, where we can be deployed to demonstrate new approaches to biodiversity conservation and the design and monitoring of green infrastructure solutions.
Product and innovation commercialisation
The SRI is developing a range of channels through which we can work with SMEs, start-ups and innovators to help them take their products and services to market. Central to this is our ability to reach into a network of private and public clients. More information will be forthcoming as our approach evolves.
