The School of Arts and Creative Industries conducts research work that addresses real-life issues through creative arts practice. We are passionate about our research being socially engaged, inclusive, innovative, and making a real world impact to address inequalities. In the latest REF 2021, both our Units of Assessment achieved world leading or internationally excellent outputs and impact.
We have great experience in supervision of practice-research PhDs with research active academic colleagues who are also experienced arts practitioners, curators and producers.
Major areas of research within the School include dance, film, media, performance, participatory arts, AI and digital applications.
Applications
Applications are invited for funded three-year PhD studentships (Home) working on one of the following research topical areas:
- Participatory Arts and Creative Walking
- Immersive Environments XR and VR
- Crip and Queer Performance
- Inclusion and Representation in Performance
Funding amount
The Studentship will cover full funding for tuition fees and a stipend of £20,000 per annum to assist with living costs, for three years.
Eligibility criteria
Applicants must have a BA honours degree or equivalent in a relevant area and a master's degree or equivalent in a relevant area.
