The Diabetes Youth Champion was hired to act as peer educator and coordinated a range of social activities to help support, educate and connect young people treated for diabetes by Barts Health Trust. They coordinated the diabetes peer-support programme. The Diabetes Youth Champion took a lead role in planning, running and monitoring the group. UEL provided support in the co-supervision and development of the successful candidate and embedded the post with the Trusts structure.
