Public Statement for 09 April 2021 - HRH The Duke of Edinburgh
It is with deep sadness to hear of the passing of Prince Philip, His Royal Highness, the Duke of Edinburgh, who died peacefully this morning at the age of 99. He dedicated his long life to the service of the British people and to his many duties and responsibilities and he made an unforgettable impression on many.
The University of East London had the great privilege of a visit from Her Majesty the Queen and His Royal Highness, the Duke of Edinburgh for the opening of our Business School at the Library and Knowledge Dock Centre in 2007.
“From myself, and the community at the University of East London, we extend our sincere condolences to Her Majesty and the Royal Family on the passing of Prince Philip. As the longest-serving consort in British history, the Duke of Edinburgh has been a fixture in the royal institution and British culture and devoted himself to many worthwhile causes, particularly his lifelong passion for helping young people through The Duke of Edinburgh Award. Today we pause to honour him and his dedication to our country.”
