Marketing course offers students opportunity to gain a professional qualification

University is successful in gaining CIM accreditation for marketing course

The School of Business and Law at the University of East London has been successful in gaining Graduate Gateway accreditation for its newly validated BSc Marketing course from the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM). 

The CIM Graduate Gateway programme gives students and graduates the opportunity to gain a professional qualification along with their marketing degree. 

The accreditation is an important benefit for the University’s marketing students. After graduating from University, a student can embark on the CIM’s Professional Diploma in Marketing with as much as 25 per cent credit towards the qualification. 

Dr Aidan J Kelly, senior lecturer in marketing and programme leader, said, “This accreditation is vital for our students as it highlights the industry relevance of the programme they are studying and links them to a community of professional marketers after graduation. 

“Our joint CIM/UEL Marketing club (unique to University of East London) already runs events each term which introduce students to leading marketing practitioners as well as cutting-edge ideas and practice. The accreditation we have received will help to develop the sense of belonging to the industry and professional body further”.

Having a CIM qualification often gives candidates an edge in today’s competitive marketing job sector. 

Kyle Young, one of the University’s current marketing students said, “It is great to see that our degrees are recognised by CIM. This will make it much easier for me to move on with my studies after university if I choose to study further with CIM.”

A critical part of the University’s Vision 2028 Strategy is to help students and graduates further their education and professional qualifications, and the agreement with CIM will play an important role in helping the University to produce industry-ready marketing professionals.
