UEL dancers perform at Westfield Stratford City
Dance programme collaborates with Westfield and New Look
Fabulous fashion and innovative dance came together on Oct 7 in the heart of Stratford.
The University of East London joined forces with Westfield Stratford City and retailer New Look to celebrate the latest autumn fashion.
Six students and alumni from the University’s Dance: Urban Practice programme donned New Look clothing for a series of dance performance in the New Look store on the second floor of Westfield. The performances were viewed through the store’s shop window.
The moves were choreographed by Jo Read, a lecturer in dance at UEL.
“Working with Westfield Stratford City and New Look is an exciting opportunity for us. It is fantastic to share the choreographic and performance skills of staff, graduates and current students in such a public showcase. It has been great to engage and interact with the local community and shoppers as they pass by,” Jo said.
UEL’s dance studios are located at the University’s University Square Stratford building, which is just minutes away from Westfield Stratford City.
Additional artistic collaborations between the University and Westfield could take place in the future. The effort is led by UEL’s School of Arts and Digital Industries.
Participating choreographers and dancers were Jo Read, Bly Richards, Vicky “Skytilz” Mantey, Scott Kean, Kyron Anthony, Svantje Buchholz, Daniela Sanchez Pimental and Darren Thomas.
