Meet Sibaji Dey Choudhury
Mathletico creating Functional and Fun Math Skills
Founded over 2.5 years ago, Mathletico is a gamified and innovative digital maths programme focused on core and functional numeracy related to everyday maths in life and work. Sibaji was inspired to create a platform that blends core curriculum skills with real-world applications. With over 180 maths skills and number games covering topics such as budgeting, taxes, and measurements, Mathletico helps learners of all ages build confidence in practical numeracy.
With more than 250,000 downloads across the Google Play Store and Apple App Store, Mathletico has already achieved significant success. Co-founder Sofia Dey Choudhury was awarded the prestigious Atherton Award, securing equity-free startup funding and mentoring opportunities to support the company’s growth. The platform has also been commercially deployed within Buckinghamshire Adult Learning and is currently being trialled across several UK college groups.
I learned to align our educational modules with commercial market demands, thereby optimising our product design specifically to appeal to a wider consumer and adult numeracy demographic.”
Driven by a desire to continue developing their skills and expanding their impact, the team joined the RDSBL Business Incubator Programme at the University of East London. As a self-funded venture, Mathletico used the incubator’s intensive workshops to strengthen its business strategy and create a compelling pitch deck, helping the team clearly communicate its value proposition to judging panels and potential growth partners.
Beyond the workshops, Mathletico actively engaged with the local business ecosystem to advance its social mobility mission and further refine its educational platform. The company is currently onboarding students through the University of East London’s Business Advice Centre (BAC) consultancy programme, gaining valuable insights and support to inform future growth.
Reflecting on his experience, Sibaji highlighted the importance of refining product and pricing strategy. He learned how to better align Mathletico’s educational modules with market demand, optimising the platform to appeal to a broader consumer audience and adult numeracy demographic.
When discussing advice for fellow founders, Sibaji emphasised the value of engaging with local incubator ecosystems. He encourages entrepreneurs to take advantage of mentorship, collaborative workspaces, and strategic networks available through incubators and university programmes to accelerate growth while keeping early-stage costs low.
