With a strong contingent of elite athletes under our belt, UEL is fostering the next generation of sporting heroes. By offering a variety of sport related degree courses, excellent facilitates and support we’re helping some of the country’s best athletes to succeed.
Our £21 million SportsDock facility was used by Team USA as a training base for the 2012 London Olympic and Paralympic Games. In fact, our sports facilities are so amazing that international athletes are choosing to study with us. Three of our undergraduates won six medals between them at the last Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. Including Adam Gemili, was also crowned European 200 metres champion and Mercy Brown who is now looking ahead to Rio 2016.
Our High-Performance Sport Programme is one of the most attractive in the UK and enables elite athletes to balance study with their sporting ambitions by offering our world-class facilities, comprehensive support and financial scholarships and bursaries.
And as part of the London 2012 Games legacy, our sports department are involved in a huge, ongoing research called ‘Newham Every Child a sports Person’ which aims to get every Year 7 child at school in the London borough of Newham to take up a sport and become physically active – we’re helping to make the next generation of sporting heroes.
At UEL you'll learn from the best. Join us at our Open Day and meet our highly-experienced academic staff.

The support from the UELSports Scholarship Programme has really made a difference to me. The coaching and support you get from UEL are fantastic. I wouldn’t have moved to London if it wasn’t the best career option for me.Aimee Willmott , BSc (Hons) Sport and Exercise Science, undergraduate, double Commonwealth and European medallist
