BSc (Hons) Nursing (Adult) Selection Information
Congratulations you have been shortlisted for the recruitment and selection process for the BSc (Hons) Nursing (Adult) course, at the University of East London.
This will comprise of an individual interview and will be held at our University Square Stratford directions are available here.

You have been sent a date and time for the selection process. You may request an alternative date via the Applicant Portal.
However, as there are limited places available on the course, we recommend that you endeavour to attend your given interview slot. If you cannot make the date booked and do not reschedule with 48 hours of the event, we may be unable to offer you an alternative date.
Our Trust Partners are investing in you from day 1 and will be actively involved in the selection process.
The interview lasting approximately 15 mins, will usually be facilitated by an academic from UEL, a clinical member of staff from one of our partner NHS Trusts and a service user. The interview panel will explore with you:
Good preparation will be key to a successful interview.
You will be expected to pass the Suitability requirement.
What is Suitability?
• Criminal convictions check
• Disciplinary record
• Personal health
• Protection of children
• Previous attendance on Nursing or Midwifery programmes
If your Suitability declaration is acceptable and you pass the interview your offer will be updated accordingly (conditions will be removed).
However, please note that as you will have close contact with children and/or vulnerable adults on the course, you will still be required to have a satisfactory Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service and Occupational Health check in order to study.
You will also need to provide evidence of all the qualifications requested in your conditional offer, including GCSE English and Maths or equivalent Level 2 qualification. You can upload these to the UEL Applicant Portal.
If your qualifications are acceptable your offer will be updated accordingly (conditions will be removed).
This course is currently open to Home fee-paying students only.
Please note that if you have accepted a conditional or unconditional offer you will not be able to enrol until your fee has been confirmed as a Home fee-paying student.
Applicants who are subject to immigration control will need to undergo right to study checks.
You will need to bring evidence of your residency (passport or EU identity card) to the interview.
Structure of the Day
Arrive at the University Square Stratford reception and register for the Phase 2 selection event
Completion of brief administrative processes, to include presenting your photographic ID

We recommend you should:
- Plan your journey, use public transport and arrive 15 minutes early. Unfortunately, we will not be able to accommodate candidates arriving after the start time.
- Dress smartly (as for an interview – business wear)
- Try to relax and smile
The interview lasting approximately 20 minutes, will usually be facilitated by an academic from UEL, a clinical member of staff from one of our partner NHS Trusts and a service user. The interview panel will explore with you:
•Why you want to be an adult nurse
•Your understanding of the demands of the course and how this will fit in with your home/family commitments
•Your communication skills and ability to learn from previous experiences i.e. work/voluntary experience
•Your beliefs and values

- Photographic ID (passport/photo driving licence/ national identity card)- candidates arriving without this, will not be admitted.
- Your home address and postcode for the last 5 years and details of your GP ( for completion of the Suitability Declaration Form)
- A black pen
We aim to make decisions within 1 week of the Interview being held. In some circumstances this may take longer (e.g. if you made a statement on your Suitability Declaration form or applied to advanced entry). Please do not worry, if you have not received a decision, this means your application is still being considered.
We will notify you of the outcome of Interview outcome via UCAS or via email if you made a direct application through the website. If you receive a place at UEL you will be required to accept/decline your place as per the deadline in your email.
Due to high demand we are unable to provide detailed individual feedback. We only accept one application per cycle. You may reapply for the following intake, if you are unsuccessful on this occasion.
If your application has been unsuccessful, you may be considered for an alternative course at UEL. This will be communicated to you via UCAS or via email if you made a direct application through the website
