Current student FAQs
How can I get immigration advice at UEL?
Use the Student Immigration and Compliance intranet pages. You can submit a query or book an appointment there. Mark urgent issues, such as a lost passport or BRP, as urgent.
I’ve lost my passport or BRP. What should I do?
Report the loss to the police and get a crime reference number if you can. Tell your embassy or consulate, then let UEL know through the Student Immigration and Compliance intranet. You will need to apply for a replacement BRP or travel document and update UEL when you receive it.
Can I work while studying?
Check your BRP or digital status for your work conditions. Most Student visa holders can work limited hours in term time and full-time during official holidays. If you are unsure, check the intranet guidance before you start work.
How do I know my term-time and holiday dates?
Check your course timetable and the UEL academic calendar on the intranet. Or, see our key term dates page.
I want to travel outside the UK. What should I check?
Make sure your visa is valid for re-entry and carry evidence of your studies if needed, such as a student status or travel letter from UEL. Check the visa rules for your destination country and do not miss any required teaching or assessments.
