What is/was your overall experience as an international student studying at UEL?
From the moment I arrived on campus, I felt welcomed and supported. The university provided excellent resources, including the well-stocked library on Stratford Campus, an online e-library, and knowledgeable lecturers who were always available to help. I was also impressed by the comfortable and spacious on-campus accommodation, which was conveniently located near public transportation, groceries, and medical services.
One of the things I appreciated most about UEL was the focus on student support. The Career Support and Wellbeing Support services were particularly helpful, providing guidance and assistance throughout my studies. They helped me navigate challenges and achieve my goals, including completing my 8,000-word master's thesis, a project I am incredibly proud of.
What are your plans after graduation? If you have graduated, can you tell us more about what you are currently doing?
After graduation, I decided to combine my passion for fitness with my knowledge of positive psychology. I am currently enrolled in a personal training course, and I plan to create a unique fitness coaching approach that integrates physical and mental well-being. I am confident that my education at UEL has equipped me with the skills and knowledge to make a positive impact in this field.
What advice would you give to prospective international students planning to study in the UK (with UEL)?
For prospective international students considering UEL, embrace the opportunities to connect with people from diverse backgrounds, explore London's vibrant culture, and challenge yourself academically. Here are a few practical tips I wish I had known before arriving:
- Apply for a National Insurance number online early, even without a job. It is essential for various purposes.
- Take advantage of student discounts on railcards but remember to purchase them online yourself.
- Invest in a second-hand bicycle to save money on transportation and enjoy the city's sights.
UEL provides a supportive and enriching environment where you can thrive personally and academically. I am grateful for the transformative experience I had, and I am confident that you will find your time at UEL equally rewarding.
