Entry requirements
Undergraduate
- Post 2012: Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education (HKDSE) Examination with 333
- First year of a full-time Associate Degree (AD) or Higher Diploma (HD) programme in a Community College of a UGC-funded institution or Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education (HKIVE)
- Diploma Yi Jin AND recognised International Foundation course
- Pre-2012: Hong Kong Advanced Level Examination (HKALE) is equivalent to UK A Levels and should be passed with the equivalent UCAS tariff points
Postgraduate
- A 3-year bachelor’s (Honours) degree with a second class / GPA 2.5 or above from a recognised institution

- Pearson Test of English (PTE) PTE Academic
- Oxford International English Test (OIETC)
- Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education (HKDSE) English Grade 4 or above
- Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE) English Grade C or above in syllabus B and Grade A in syllabus A
- Hong Kong A Level Use of English Grade E or above in all components for all Extended degrees
- Hong Kong A Level - Use of English Grade D or above in all components for Undergraduate Degrees and some Postgraduate Programmes
- Hong Kong A Level - Use of English Grade C or above in all components for Postgraduate Programmes
English language requirements
To study at UEL, you must demonstrate that your English level is at the standard for university study. We accept a number of different English language qualifications/tests for entry onto our courses, with IELTS being the most common.
