Entry Requirements

Getting a place isn’t just about meeting entry requirements. We look at every aspect of your application - from your qualifications and work experience, to your personal statement, and the overall standard of your application form. Remember that some courses have specific entry requirements, listed on their pages.

    Undergraduate degree courses

    We accept a number of qualifications including:

     - Apolytirion of Lykeio / Apolytirio (Geniko) Lykeiou (Απολυτηριο (Γενικού) Λυκειου) from a Eniaio Lykeio (ενιαίο λύκειο), Unified Lyceum or Geniko Lykeio with a minimum average of 16, including in key subjects.

    Level 3 Vocational Training (Cycle 2) Certificate (Πτυχιο) from a Techniko Epaggelmatiko Ekpaideftirio, known as Tee (or Tel) (Technical Vocational Educational School) with a minimum average of 17

    - The International Baccalaureate Diploma (IB) with a score of 25 or 26 (depending on the course).

    - A School Leaving Certificate from an EPAL with a minimum average of 17, can be considered for direct entry, although a recognised foundation may be required depending on the relevancy of the specialisation

    - A Vocational Training Certificate or Diploma from An Institouto Epaggelmatikis Katartisis (Vocational Training Institute- IEK) with a minimum average of 17

    What if I do not meet the entry requirements?
    If you do not meet the academic entry requirements for an undergraduate programme, you may be able to apply for the one of our foundation courses. 

    Foundation degree courses

    For foundation courses, we look for a grade 13 or above.

    English language requirements

    To study at UEL you must demonstrate that your English level is high enough for university study. We accept a number of different English Language Tests for entry onto our degree courses, with IELTS being the most common. English language requirements vary slightly from subject to subject.

    All students are required to meet our standard English language requirements as follows:

    Undergraduate standard requirements

    The English language entry requirement for undergraduate (Bachelor's) course is a minimum IELTS score of 6, or equivalent, depending on the course and year or level of entry. For example our BSc (Hons) Nursing (Adult) which requires an IELTS of 7.0 overall and in each section. 

    The specific requirements for your chosen course, including individual component scores, will be outlined as one of the academic conditions if you are made an offer.

    Undergraduate

    Postgraduate degree courses

    We normally ask for:

    • a Ptychion (awarded by an AEI University) minimum grades of 6.5 or a Ptychion (awarded by a Technikon ATEI) with minimum grades of 7.
    • A Bachelor's Degree from the American University in Greece with a minimum CGPA of 2.75

    Postgraduate standard requirements

    The English language entry requirement for the majority of postgraduate (Master's) courses is IELTS 6.0 or 6.5, or equivalent, depending on your chosen course of study. Specific requirements for your chosen course, including individual component scores, will be outlined as one of the academic conditions if you are made an offer.
