UEL is proud to launch a £3 million Global Campus Scholarship Scheme

Global Campus Scholarship Scheme

The Global Campus Scholarship Scheme will provide discounts for graduates from our global campus network to pursue postgraduate taught and postgraduate research qualifications at UEL, reinforcing the University’s commitment to fostering international education and collaboration.

The initiative is designed to support graduates from our diverse network of global partners, which includes institutions with formal franchising and validation agreements, as well as study abroad partnerships. Eligible institutions include:

  • Metropolitan College (Greece): Partner since 2011, offering over 50 courses across various schools in English and Greek, with campuses in Athens, Thessaloniki, Piraeus, Larissa, Heraklion, and Rhodes.
  • UNICAF: Global delivery partner responsible for the recruitment, admission, enrolment, and support of online learners pursuing UEL awards approved for distance online delivery.
  • University Campus of Football Business (UCFB): Offers specialised courses in football and sports industries.
  • Ain Shams University (Egypt): Collaborates on engineering and architecture programmes, including BSc (Hons) Computer Engineering and Software Systems, BEng (Hons) Energy and Renewable Energy Engineering, and BEng (Hons) Mechatronics and Automation Engineering.
  • Rheinische Hochschule Köln (Germany): Offers an MBA in International Business.
  • Academic Institute for Higher Education GmbH (Germany): Provides MSc programmes, including Artificial Intelligence and Mental Health, Smart Technology and Future Society, and Body Psychology and Body Psychotherapy.
  • European Universities in Egypt (EUE): Hosts UEL programmes in fields such as Marketing and HR Management, Fine Arts, Design (Fashion, Graphics), Sports Therapy and Animation, and Physiotherapy.

Graduates from the University of South Florida (USA) and all of UEL’s study abroad/Global Experiences partners worldwide are eligible to apply for the scholarship scheme, which is exclusively available for postgraduate taught and postgraduate research programmes. Varying scholarship levels will apply based on the specific institution and programme and the level of attainment.

Professor Paul Marshall, Pro-Vice-Chancellor at UEL, emphasised the significance of this initiative, stating:

The establishment of the Global Campus Scholarship Scheme is a testament to UEL’s dedication to expanding educational opportunities and strengthening our international partnerships. Our global campuses and study abroad partners are integral to the delivery of our Vision 2028 strategy, which aims to reshape education through collaborative initiatives and prepare our students for the evolving demands of the global workforce.”

This scholarship scheme aligns with UEL’s Vision 2028, an ambitious 10-year strategy to reinvent the University and redefine the role of higher education in society. By fostering global connections and providing accessible education pathways, UEL continues to pioneer futures and empower students worldwide.

Award Summary

If you graduated from UEL or one of our Global Campus Partners (see full list of eligible institutions below) you may be eligible for a postgraduate course discount. If you progress directly with no gap year, you may receive a 15% discount. For direct progression graduates achieving an Upper Second-Class Honours (2:1) or equivalent, you may receive a 20% discount. Direct progression graduates achieving First-Class Honours (1st) or equivalent, may receive a 25% discount.

Alternatively, graduates joining us at a later stage may receive a 10% discount.

Eligibility Summary

You should previously have been awarded an undergraduate degree, postgraduate degree, professional doctorate or postgraduate research degree from UEL or one of its predecessor institutions, such as the Polytechnic of East London (inclusive of students who have studied with one of UEL's Global Campus Partners and study abroad partners).

Terms and Conditions

What is the University of East London (UEL) Global Campus Scholarship Scheme?

1. It is a loyalty scheme offered by UEL to its graduate students, (inclusive of students who have studied with one of UEL's Global Campus and Study Abroad Partners), to pursue further study whilst saving on tuition fees. This scheme is open to UK and international students studying full or part-time postgraduate courses at the UEL London campus. 

Criteria 

2. Students who meet the criteria below will be considered under the Global Campus Scholarship Scheme: 

  • Any UEL undergraduate or postgraduate who fully completes their intended degree programme will automatically be eligible for a 10% discount off a postgraduate course at UEL. 
  • Any UEL student who progresses directly onto a postgraduate taught or research course with no gap year between their studies will automatically be eligible to receive a 15% discount on tuition fees. 

Undergraduate students progressing directly to Postgraduate study 

3. For direct progression graduates achieving First-Class Honours (1st) (or equivalent) you will automatically be eligible to receive a 25% discount 

4. For direct progression graduates achieving Upper Second Class Honours (2:1) (or equivalent) you will automatically be eligible to receive a 20% discount. 

Excludes: 

  • PG Cert programmes or Top-Up courses 
  • Online or distance learning 
  • Short courses
  • Courses with less than 120 credits 
  • If you progress on to a full degree programme after the completion of a short course or courses worth less than 120 credits, you will not qualify for the alumni discount. 
  • PG Diploma students returning to top up to a full master’s (60 credits), are not entitled to a Global Campus Scholarship for the Master's course.

Exceptions:

  • PGCE students will be eligible to receive the Global Campus Scholarship Scheme discount if they progress on to an MA or MSc programme. 
  • PGCE students, PCET, and Architecture RIBA II programmes are inclusive of the Global Campus Scholarship Scheme discount. 

Application process 

5. There is no application necessary. The discount will be applied to your student record automatically. 

Fee waiver details 

6. If awarded, students will receive a discount on their tuition fees when they enrol on one of our postgraduate courses starting September 2025 or January 2026. 

7. The fee waiver is only valid for the normal duration of the course, it will not be renewed or extended beyond this term to cover repeat modules.

General terms and conditions

8. If an awarded student decides to change the programme, the student will be entitled to keep the discount provided that the new course and mode of study meet the eligibility criteria. All changes must be approved by the Director of Student Recruitment and Marketing.

9. If an awarded student decides to withdraw, the discount will terminate at the date of withdrawal. The discount may be reversed.

10. Once a period of study has commenced, should a discount holder suspend their studies through the proper channels, their discount is similarly suspended and will recommence on the resumption of studies. This can be held for a maximum of one year, starting from the date of their suspension.

11. If the student’s status changes during their study, as a result of information not being provided at the point of application, and the student becomes ineligible, the University reserves the right to revoke the discount and claim back any fee waiver incorrectly made to the student.

12. The Global Campus Scholarship Scheme discount may not be held in conjunction with any other scholarships. If awarded, you will only be entitled to one scholarship, one bursary or an alumni discount, whichever is the highest to be deducted from your tuition fees due. Please see our Fees Policy.

13. If a student breaks the University regulations and withdraws from study, the discount will be immediately terminated, and no further support will be available.

14. A complaint is normally a specific concern related to a procedural error, irregularity, or maladministration in admissions procedures or policies. If you are dissatisfied with any aspect of the administration of your discounts, please contact us in the first instance so that an informal resolution can be sought. This may be done in writing by emailing studentfunding@uel.ac.uk.
