Countering Child Sexual Exploitation and Abuse 2021

Countering Child Sexual Exploitation and Abuse 2021

Thursday February 25, 2021

Overview

According to the Office for National Statistics, reports from organisations such as the NSPCC and UNICEF indicate a rise in calls to helplines and highlight the increased risk to children of abuse during the lockdown. 79% of 12-15-year olds have had potential harmful online experience in the previous 12 months.

The number of Childline counselling sessions about child sexual abuse within the family rose from an average of 8 sessions per week before the pandemic restriction were imposed to an average of 23 per week since March 2020.

Countering Child Sexual Exploitation and Abuse 2021 will give attendees both policy and practice insights into how to identify, prevent and tackle child sexual exploitation. The event will focus on how the COVID-19 pandemic has impacted both the scale of CSE and the ability of organisations to carry out their safeguarding role.

Attendees will gain a comprehensive insight into current and future challenges and practical solutions from key organisations from across a variety of sectors including police, education, local government, healthcare, and charities.
