Royal Docks Education and Enterprise Festival
UEL hosts free event for the community showcasing technology, the arts, sport, enterprise and much more
The Royal Docks Education and Enterprise Festival is an exciting opportunity for UEL to celebrate the end of the academic year with its students, staff and the wider community. This free festival will bring a variety of disciplines, including art, technology, sport and enterprise, into one dynamic showcase displaying student, staff and community talent.
Market stalls, pop-up bars and food and drink vendors will be on hand to keep you refreshed throughout the day. Look out for exciting giveaways.
For art lovers there will be art exhibitions and graffiti workshops, with an opportunity to help create murals on the day. A professional artist will be on hand to help budding Banksys.
Staff and students from our School of Architecture, Computing and Engineering will offer glider and robot workshops. Spaghetti and marshmallow mini activities will also take place.
There will be an Activity Zone where you can test your reactions and strength with games like Buzz Wire, High Striker and Tap the App.
Sporty types can take part in dragon boat racing along with an athletics track where there will be mini-Olympic style games, a climbing wall and Zumba. A land train will ferry up to 50 passengers at a time to the Dragon Boat Regatta. If you prefer to get your zen on then there will be opportunities to take part in yoga and mindfulness sessions.
Performances will take place throughout the day, with the highlight being a special appearance by rapper, singer and television personality Professor Green. He will be on our main stage at 6:00 pm for one hour.
The psychology department will be hosting virtual reality sessions including old polygraph tests, mirror drawing and other mini activities.
Our health, sport and bioscience teams are providing a Tent of the Hidden World where you will find microscopic experiments taking place such as peak flow testing, UV hand washing games and batak response testing.
The Amazing Bubble Man will take place at 12:30 to 1:30 pm; a scientific performance on the main stage and uses bubbles in a fun and entertaining way.
As well as showcasing our current partnerships the event will provide a platform for creating new sponsorship opportunities and companies including Microsoft, Google, and Amazon will have a presence.
The festival is free and open to students, staff and the wider community.
