A modern-day performance of 'Great Expectations'
UEL Performing Arts students re-imagine the Charles Dickens classic
Students from the University of East London's BA (Hons) Performing Arts programme will perform a modern-day re-imagining of Charles Dickens' classic story at ILQ Tower in Stratford.
Pip is a boy from a council estate with no money and no hope for the future. His mother, widow Jo Gargery, is a police offer struggling to provide for herself and her son. Before long, Pip’s life is changed forever when he meets mysterious fugitive Magwycz, the beautiful but troubled Estella, and the fearsome and wounded Miss Havisham. Pip’s whirlwind adventure takes him to the height of city success, and into more danger than he could have ever imagined.
'Great Expectations' will be on 9 and 10 May at 6pm and 8pm at ILQ Tower in Stratford.
The performance is free.Tickets will soon be available through Eventbrite (information will be posted when available).
