Cass Spring Careers Fair

Are you interested in a rewarding career in teaching?

If the answer is yes, then this exclusive event is for you!

This is a fantastic opportunity to network with employers and specialist agencies and gather valuable career information or even secure a full-time, part-time, temporary or volunteering position.  Learn about all the different routes into teaching and get first-hand application tips from admissions tutors at the Cass ITT stand.

Make sure you have enough time to speak to all the exhibitors that you are interested in, make the effort to network and engage with people to develop opportunities and create new contacts. Bring a few copies of your CV along and dress to impress. It may be helpful to bring some ID, such as your passport and most recent DBS document to help speed up registration processes.

Please remember that recruitment agencies are for-profit organisations that make money by placing candidates in client organisations (schools  or companies). Ideally, they will do this on a commission (paid by the organisation, not the candidate) basis by matching candidates into permanent positions. Candidates then become employees of the client organisation. Alternatively, they provide supply staff (including part-time and temp) to the client organisation, in which case candidates are employed by the agency and the agency receives a part of the candidates' salary.

Depending on your individual circumstances, either of these arrangements may be more suitable. If you are looking for a flexible part-time or temp job to fit around your studies supply work can be an excellent option.
We would advise newly qualified teachers and social workers to ask agencies if their particular arrangements will enable you to complete your induction year / ASYE / first year in practice. In any case, signing up with an agency is often a viable fall-back option and an opportunity to extend your network, increasing your chances of permanent employment. Consider signing up with several agencies to give yourself more options.

After the event make sure you follow up by contacting people you met on the day. If you were given some good advice on improving your CV then make sure you amend it.
This event is brought to you by The Careers Network. For any further queries please contact Angela Ellermeier at the Careers Network.
