UEL Students' Union's Psych Cinema presents: The Celluloid Closet
Film examines evolving attitudes about sex and sexuality
February is LGBT History Month, and the UEL Students' Union's PsychCinema will screen ‘The Celluloid Closet’, a fascinating and elegant look at human sexuality and identity, on 21 February.
‘The Celluloid Closet’ examines our attitudes about sex and sexuality as they evolved throughout the 20th century, lampooning a fair few sexual myths along the way.
This epic story – which is, by turns, surprising, hilarious and disturbing – charts the cinematic journey of lesbian and gay stereotypes throughout a century of their portrayal on the silver screen. You’ll no doubt view a number of classic Hollywood icons – and the films which featured them – in a whole new light.
The screening will take place on the Stratford campus in AE101.
