The fUEL festival
The fUEL festival is the annual week-long showcase of the talents of students from the University of East London’s Performing Arts department.
This year the work of UEL’s theatre, dance and music students will be aired on May 9, 10 and 11 with events both on and off campus.
Wednesday May 9 sees Emergence - the event that showcases the BA (Hons) Drama, Applied Theatre & Performance students. This year they have an eclectic series of short performances devised by the students with collaborative guidance from established directors.
The performances include solo and small group pieces that raise some challenging questions about the politics and misrepresentation of poverty in London, mental health, gender, sexuality, and the family. After the performances, guests will have the opportunity to join final year students for a celebration with refreshments.
5-7pm UEL University Square Stratford, 1 Salway Road, London, E15 1NF.
On Thursday May 10 students perform COLL!DE 2018 (the annual dance) at Stratford Circus.
This year they will be celebrating the 10th anniversary of the BA (Hons) Dance: Urban
Practice degree programme, and the show will combine first year and final year
choreographic work alongside external artists affiliated to the course.
7 -9.30pm at Stratford Circus Arts Centre, Theatre Square, London E15 1BX.
Saturday May 12 is Velocity – performed by students on the Music Performance and Production, and Music Technology and Performance courses. It takes place as a part of the Student Union Summer Survival All Day Event. The Velocity stage will be on the green in front of the Main Square and acts will perform from 6pm to 10pm UEL Docklands Campus, University Way, London, E16 2RD.
