Current MSc Psychology students will be asked to present posters from varied areas of psychology, relating back to their studies.

Their work will be supplemented by speaker Professor John Read who will tackle:‘Mental illness is an illness like any other’ … or is it? An evidence-based approach to reducing stigma about madness.

He is the Professor of Clinical Psychology at the University of East London. He worked for nearly 20 years as a Clinical Psychologist and manager of mental health services in the UK and the USA, before joining the University of Auckland, New Zealand, in 1994, where he worked until 2013. He has been Director of the Clinical Psychology professional graduate programmes at both Auckland and, more recently, the University of Liverpool. He has published over 130 papers in research journals, primarily on the relationship between adverse life events (eg child abuse/neglect, poverty etc.) and psychosis.

A representative from the British Psychological Society will also be in attendance to answer any questions that arise during the event.
