Engineering for a Sustainable Future: Where Innovation Meets Responsibility
Here at UEL we emphasise the application of engineering principles to real-world problems as well as the importance of innovation and sustainability in engineering practice. Students are encouraged to develop new ideas and approaches to engineering challenges and to consider the long-term environmental and social impacts of their work.
Therefore, our academic staff incorporates a wealth of research knowledge into their teaching, ensuring that you are learning the most current thinking and practices. In addition to possessing strong academic credentials, many have extensive professional experience as civil engineers.
Their areas of expertise encompass a wide range of fields, including coastal and river engineering, geotechnical analysis and design, laboratory modelling, and computational structural mechanics. For instance, Senior Lecturer Dr Ali Abbas specialises in Finite Element Analysis of concrete structures. He is currently conducting research on the response of reinforced concrete structures to seismic and impact conditions, such as earthquakes.
