Dr Yasmine Fakhry is a social public health researcher, licensed dietitian and NGO practitioner. Her work focuses on nutrition, health, food security, displacement, conflict, climate change and social justice.

She is particularly interested in the experiences of marginalised populations, including refugees, internally displaced people, women, children and people with disabilities.

Dr Fakhry is a Visiting Fellow at the Centre for Migration, Refugees and Belonging (CMRB) at the University of East London. She is also a Senior Research Fellow at the Lebanese American University’s Institute for Migration Studies and Institute for Social Justice and Conflict Resolution, and a part-time lecturer at Lebanese American University.

Her current research explores the impact of conflict, climate change, agriculture and displacement on livelihoods and food security in South Lebanon. She also researches nutrition, food dignity and humanitarian food assistance among displaced populations in Lebanon.

She is a board member at Ahlouna NGO Lebanon, where she supports grant writing, partnerships, internal development, health, food security and livelihoods.

Dr Fakhry is also an Early Career Postdoctoral Fellow with the Arab Council for the Social Sciences (2025–2026), leading research on health inequities among women, refugees and people with disabilities in Lebanese prisons.
