It is estimated that 80 million primary school age children in India will not finish their formal education.
UEL students put a spotlight on this crucial issue by travelling to India to provide educational backpacks to pupils in Mumbai and Hyderabad.
The team created a comprehensive plan and outlined long-term goals that included contributions from future Global Scholars participants. Their tasks included analysing costs, sourcing stationery and other supplies and designing the backpacks.
Students raised money for the project through a number of fundraising activities and by soliciting donations from charities.
