Student Finance and Clearing

If you go through Clearing after receiving your exam results, make sure you update your student finance details if your course, university, college, or address has changed. This could affect your funding entitlement.

Already applied?

Sign in to your Student Finance England account and select 'Change your application' to update your course or university details. To update your address, go to 'Your profile'.

What happens next?

Follow these steps after accepting your clearing offer. 

If you've received a Clearing offer from UEL, accept it to secure your place.

If you’re applying through UCAS, add us as your Clearing choice in UCAS Hub using the link in your offer email (or log in directly).

If you’re not using UCAS, complete the acceptance form in your offer email. You’ll then be asked to upload your qualifications to our Applicant Portal within 48 hours, even if you’ve already submitted them

If you've already applied for student finance, update your course or university details. If you haven't applied yet, submit your application as soon as possible.

Clearing Finance FAQs

Can I still get a student loan when applying through Clearing?

If you’ve already applied for student finance but changed your course or university through Clearing, you need to update your existing application. 

If you haven’t applied for student finance yet, we encourage you to do so as soon as possible. The review process can take 6–8 weeks, so delaying your application could mean you receive your loan after your course has already begun. 

Applying is straightforward and should take less than 30 minutes through the student finance portal. 

Are there specific deadlines I need to follow when applying through Clearing?

There’s no strict deadline to apply for student finance through Clearing, but it’s best to apply as soon as possible to ensure your funding is in place for the start of term, usually by late August. You can still apply up to nine months after your course begins, but delaying may mean your funding arrives late. 

I have my qualification from outside the UK, can I still apply?

Yes, you can apply for Student Finance England with foreign qualifications, but eligibility depends primarily on your nationality, residency status, and 3-year residency history in the UK (not where you studied). Fill out our Funding Assessment Form and our Student Money Advice and Rights Team will review your eligibility and be in touch with you if you require further support. 

Are there any specific student loan deadlines I should be aware of?

Clearing 2026 opens on 2 July. 

The last date for adding any Clearing choices is 19 October 2026. You can still apply for student finance up to nine months after the first day of your academic year. Our Clearing Dates and Times page will have all the latest deadlines for you to follow.
