Clearing - Performing Arts at UEL
Preparing you for a career in performing arts
With performing arts undergraduate courses in dance, music and acting, we have a diverse community of creatives here at UEL. And we're leading the way to prepare our students for the performance world.
You will work with students from other creative disciplines on industry-grade projects, meaning you leave UEL with a valuable network of creative talent and industry contacts.
We pioneered our BA Dance course - it's still the only performing arts undergraduate course in the UK to focus on urban dance styles from around the globe, and is highly respected by the creative community.
Industry grade facilities
By studying on one of our Performing Arts undergraduate courses, you will have access to our multi-purpose studios which have fully sprung dance floors, mirrors, and ballet bars, equipped beyond industry standards with high-quality lighting, sound, HD video infrastructure and a fully sprung dance floor.
Our Live Rooms contain a Boston GP-218 concert grand piano, Yamaha Motif 8 synthesiser workstation, Yamaha Stage Custom drum kit and various percussion instruments.
Additionally, the University of East London and Newham Council have embarked on a unique collaboration to create a vibrant cultural hub in east London, which will feature a 310-seat auditorium, 90-seat studio theatre and dedicated rehearsal and dance spaces within the current Stratford Youth Zone space. It is called The Source and it combines an incubator for creative expression and live performance, a youth zone for young people to explore their social and emotional learning, and performance spaces used for learning and hire.
Industry networks
Our performing arts undergraduate courses will set you up to take full advantage of the demand for creativity, innovation and professionalism within the performing arts and wider creative industries sector.
You could work with acclaimed professional artists, such as renowned choreographers Kenrick Sandy (Boy Blue) and Hofesh Shechter and top organisations such as Theatre Royal East, the National Youth Theatre, and the Hackney Empire.
We've produced actors, arts administrators, teachers, broadcast journalists, advertisers, designers and scriptwriters, music producers, sound designers and DJs - some of whom have joined us through clearing on our performing arts courses.
