Celebrating King Charles III & Queen Camilla
His Majesty, King Charles III is the seventh monarch to have reigned during the University of East London’s 125-year history. On behalf of the University of East London community, I congratulate His Majesty, King Charles and Her Majesty, Queen Camilla, on their Coronation on Saturday 6 May 2023.
During His Majesty’s visit to the University of East London in February 2023, we were proud to be able to share the University’s sector-leading projects on sustainability - including how the University is promoting and supporting the implementation of the UN Sustainable Development Goals. His Majesty’s visit was particularly poignant during the 125th anniversary year of the University - as the first university visit of his reign, it was reflective of our shared values of diversity and inclusion, and our shared commitment towards a greener and fairer world.
In honour of Their Majesties’ Coronation, the University is funding a dedicated research scholarship in sustainability and climate change, in recognition of His Majesty’s long-standing commitment to environmental action. The sustainability scholarship will be part of our continued mission to improve the quality of life for the communities we serve and make meaningful impact in the battle against climate change, through ground-breaking research and innovation.
Our very best wishes for a long and successful reign are extended to Their Majesties, with hopes that our shared values continue to flourish and thrive.
