Our team

Cherise Basslian – Employer Engagement Manager

Cherise manages the Employer Engagement Team within the CfSS and works with a wide range of employers to source graduate roles, work placements, internships and part time work in line with the aspirations and career objectives of UEL students and graduates. With over 12 years’ experience working in Human Resources and employability services Cherise is well placed to connect employers to the talented pool of UEL students and graduates that are seeking new opportunities.

Siobhan Walker – Employer Engagement Officer

Siobhan is responsible for connecting job opportunities within tech and creative industries to UEL students and graduates. Coupled with a background in tech and the creative sectors Siobhan’s career within employability began in 2008 and includes working within private and public sector institutions.

Andrea Taylor-Harris – Employer Engagement Officer

Andrea’s role is to develop and build partnerships with businesses in order to source employment opportunities for UEL students and graduates. After completing a Masters in Management, Andrea gained experience in the education and youth charity sectors where she developed a passion for employability. She uses her expertise to help students leverage their experience at university in order to achieve their career goals.

Stephen Amanwo – Employer Engagement Officer

Stephen is a former President of the Students’ Union at UEL, and was previously a member of the University Board of Governors. His experience includes staff recruitment, management, strategic planning and implementation. Stephen is responsible for sourcing a wide range of placement opportunities in order to enrich students’ academic experience, and increase their employability skills whilst at university.

Tosin Teriba – Employer Engagement Officer

Tosin has over four years’ experience working in employer engagement.  She combines social media skills with a fresh creative perspective to engage and build networks with UEL’s ambitious students and graduates. Tosin is particularly keen to showcase our wonderful alumni, from entrepreneurs to company directors, in order to inspire students to visualise themselves in positions they dream of. Tosin seeks to create lasting relationships with start-ups, SMEs and well established companies in order to secure dynamic opportunities that will help launch our students’ careers.

Monica Owih-Opoku – Placement Officer

Monica has recently completed an MSc in Human Resource Management, and has also gained experience working in student recruitment. Her role focuses on sourcing work placements for the MBA (with Industrial Placement) students, which requires her to develop strong relationships with partner organisations who are able to provide enriching opportunities for our postgraduate students. Monica also provides training to students in order to enhance their employability skills.

Ashraf Hussain – Placement Officer

Ashraf has a BSc (Hons) degree in Business Information Technology and over 10 years’ experience working in Student Marketing and Recruitment within Higher Education. Ashraf is responsible for sourcing work placements for our Postgraduate Computing and Engineering students. This involves building relationships with employers, students and academic colleagues. He also delivers employability training in order to help prepare students for the workplace.
