What we're researching
An expert panel rated 72% of our research as world-leading and internationally excellent overall. Our research in the field of Allied Health Professions (dentistry, nursing, and pharmacy) emerged as a major winner in the 2021 Research Excellence Framework (REF) — a six-yearly national review of research quality in higher education.
Our research in public health is closely linked to the internationally acclaimed former Institute for Health and Human Development (IHHD) at UEL, which has conducted research in the UK and overseas for many years. Since its inception in 2006, the IHHD has been heavily involved in more than 50 significant projects. UEL faculty and students have conducted research and developed programmes aimed at improving health and well-being, particularly in some of London's most impoverished communities.
Career
There is a strong demand for qualified healthcare professionals across the UK and abroad, offering a fulfilling career path in the NHS and private practice. Our courses are designed to provide students with the skills and experience necessary to succeed in their chosen profession.

Additionally, our Public Health graduates have also found success in a variety of fields, working for Public Health England, the civil service, local authorities and national government as well as in charitable organisations and social enterprises.
