UEL'S LONDON 2012 LEGACY CELEBRATIONS
We are planning a series of celebrations and events to commemorate the tenth anniversary of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games and the important part the University played in them. Our celebrations are also a reminder of our commitment to the talent pathway, inclusivity, legacy, wellbeing and community benefits of sport and physical activity that the London Olympics and Paralympics helped inspire.
Our legacy includes:
- Our Docklands campus, including SportsDock, which provided the residential services and training facilities for the 2012 Team USA squad and hosted the Team GB medical team
- Holding the British Olympic Association archive for the London Olympics of 1908, 1948 and 2012
- Our UEL alumna Gemma Gibbons won a judo silver medal in the 70kg category
But that's not the only part of our Olympic legacy!
Read all about our planned celebrations and our contribution to the 2012 Games.
