Join the University of East London as we celebrate the Year of Health! Apply for our free non-residential Summer School delivered in partnership with *Make Happen where you will discover just how broad and dynamic the world of health really is. From technology and engineering to media, policy, and healthcare delivery, explore the hidden connections that shape the future of healthcare.
The Summer School will take place across our Docklands and Stratford campuses.
*Make Happen is the Office for Students’ Uni Connect programme for Essex. They are the go-to place in Essex for impartial information about pathways to further and higher education www.makehappen.org.

Travel bursaries are available to support travel to the Summer School (student criteria and conditions apply). These include:
A full travel bursary provided by Make Happen will be available to eligible students from a school or college in Essex. This will be in the form of train tickets, provided in advance of the Summer School.
For students from a school or college in London Travel expenses reimbursed up to a total £25 following the Summer School, subject to the eligibility criteria and appropriate evidence and attendance across the 5 days (exceptional circumstances apply)
Eligibility
The Summer School is open to students who:
- Are resident in the UK and year 12/FE1 and 16-18 years old.
- Have permission from their school or college to attend the Summer School during term time.
- Have permission from their parents/guardians to attend the Summer School during term time.
Everyone is welcome at the University of East London; however, our summer school is aimed at those students who are underrepresented in university and priority will be given to students who:
- Are or have been in care
- Have a disability, learning difficulty or long-term physical or mental health condition
- Are from white working-class background
- Are from a Black and Asian ethnic minority group
- Live in a neighbourhood with low progression to university
- Have family with little or no history of attending university
- Are from a military family (i.e. have a parent/guardian who serves/served in the military)
- Are estranged from family (i.e. not in contact with and not supported by family).
Priority will also be given to students who are currently studying at a local college or sixth form within these boroughs and areas; Newham, Tower Hamlets, Redbridge, Havering, Barking and Dagenham, Waltham Forest, Hackney, and Essex including Southend on Sea, Basildon or Thurrock.

Closing date
The first wave of applications have now closed and are being reviewed. The second wave of applications is open until 15 June but is subject to close early.
