An interactive and inspiring STEM day for Year 9 girls

The Discover STEM day aims to promote and inspire Year 9 girls to explore the vast array of career pathways available by pursuing STEM subjects at university. It is a multi-school, one day event, to coincide with the International Day of Women and Girls in Science held in February each year. Students will explore different STEM careers and try out practical workshops in a variety of different subject areas.

  • It widens access to groups who are under-represented in STEM subjects and addresses future skills needs
  • Students get to experience state-of-the-art university facilities
  • It is an opportunity for your students to be inspired by University of East London role models
  • It meets Gatsby Benchmarks
  • Event timings – 09:30-15:00, February 2020 *Date will be posted December 2019*
  • Location - delivered on a University of East London campus
  • Suitable for – female or non-binary Year 9 students that meet our widening participation criteria. Students must be accompanied by a teacher
  • Spaces are limited to 30 students per school and priority is given to University of East London partner schools
