Academic skills

The Academic Skills programme is designed to provide Year 10 and 11 students with the key skills and knowledge needed to support their GCSE attainment. The programme aims to supplement and add value to the existing provision provided at school, enhancing pupils’ motivation and progression.

The programme focuses on topics such as:

  • Exam pressure 
  • How to revise effectively
  • Time management
  • How to ace an essay
  • Critical thinking
  • Reading smarter
  • Planning an essay
  • The sessions improve academic attainment and study skills at key stage 4
  • The programme supports attainment across curriculum areas through sustained engagement over the 6 sessions
  • It meets Gatsby Benchmarks
  • Limited availability and priority will be given to partner schools
  • Session duration – 60 minutes, delivered by our curriculum ambassadors
  • Location - can be delivered on a University of East London campus or at your school
  • Suitable for – Year 10 or 11.Minimum of 30 students per year group
