What are Taster Days?

UEL’s free taster days is a great way to get a taste of what it is like to study a course you’re interested in at degree level.  You’ll get the opportunity to meet our students and ask them any questions you have about your options and life at university.

The Taster Day will:

  • INSPIRE: View our industry-standard facilities and excellent resources.  Speak to our inspiring students and teaching staff.

  • ENGAGE: Challenge your knowledge – work on a project linked to a career in the subject area of your choice
  • INFORM: Gain transferrable skills – write about your experience in your UCAS personal statement and be at an advantage to get into the university of your choice.

Who is it for?

The taster day is designed for students aged 16 – 18 years in post-16 education.

How much will it cost?

The events are totally FREE of charge.

We will provide light refreshments throughout the day.

Please bring lunch as this will not be provided

Claim £5 towards travel costs

What is the programme on the day?

  • 9.30 am – 10 am            Arrival & Student Registration

  • 10 am – 10.30 am          Interactive icebreaker session 

  • 10.45 am - 11.45 am      Champion Mindset Session with Fix Up Seminars – An interactive independent learning and personal development session

  • 11.45 am – 12.30 pm      Lunch (Please bring a pack lunch)

  • 12.30 pm – 1 pm            Campus tour competition with prizes

  • 1 pm – 1.20 pm              Energiser Session – fun interactive session with Fix Up Seminars

  • 1.30 pm – 2.30 pm         Hands-on workshop led by academics and supported by student ambassadors

  • 2.30 pm – 3.30 pm         Information session on degree courses and entry qualifications for different careers

                                            Information session on student life, student accommodation, finance options e.g., student finance, bursary’s, scholarships by student ambassadors key student service staff

How to apply

Application Process
Register online, give your contact details and a short summary on why you would like to come to the Taster Day of your choice.

Deadlines for applications
Registration closes a week before delivery of each Taster Day  

A few days after the closing date, you will receive a text and email confirming your place.

Spaces are limited, so please sign up early to avoid disappointment.
