Technical and support questions about the TMF app
I cannot login to the TMF app
You can log in to the TMF app using your UEL username and password. As with all our platforms, you will also need to use Multifactor Authentication (either via an authentication app or a text message to your phone).
If you have forgotten your login details, you can visit the resetting your password pages on our website.
I cannot authenticate access to my email or calendar
If you are a member of UEL staff accessing TMF on your phone or personal device, you will need to use Microsoft Edge as a default browser to successfully complete the Multifactor Authentication required to connect the TMF app to your UEL Microsoft 365 account.
Why can I see personal information in the People Directory?
The TMF app syncs with your Microsoft 365 and Outlook contacts, which may include personal (non-UEL) email addresses as well as UEL staff and students.
What should I do if I see: Error 'Unauthorised Error: can’t load…'
In the same way that websites ask your permission to use 'cookies', the TMF app also needs you to grant some permissions when you first start using it. Thankfully, this is very easy to do.
If you see this error, simply click on the feature you would like to use (e.g. calendar, email, tasks, etc). You will be asked to grant permission for our app to access your UEL email and Moodle accounts from within the TMF app. It is completely safe to do this as the app is an official tool of the University of East London. Once permission is granted, the error message should stop, and the features will work as intended.
During this process, you will normally receive a notification that you need to grant permissions. This will appear in ‘My Notifications’ (normally a badge notification will appear on the bell at the top of the app too). Once permissions are granted, you can mark your notifications as complete.
For cyber security reasons, you will sometimes need to repeat this approval process. Microsoft will disconnect your permissions and require that you grant permissions again. When this occurs, simply follow the quick steps above once more.
If you have been through this process some time ago, your connections may have expired for security reasons, and you'll need to disconnect and reconnect them. This can be done via the user menu by selecting 'Services'.
What should I do if I see: Error: 'Oh dear! Unable to load…'
The TMF app requires an Internet connection to work. This error simply indicates your device is offline. Move to a place where you can connect to WiFi or 4/5G or use the desktop version at https://tmf.uel.ac.uk on a cabled (non-WiFi) computer in the meantime.
