The School of Childhood and Social Care focuses on Education, Teacher Training, Counselling, Global Sustainable Development, Social and Community Work and Psychology.
Our School of Psychology and School of Education and Communities have joined forces to become the new School of Childhood and Social Care.

Who we are
Our School is composed of the Department of Psychology and Human Development, the Department of Education, and the Department of Social Work, Counselling, and Social Care. It will play a critical role not only within our university but also in shaping society, locally, nationally and internationally. Each department contributes uniquely to the understanding of human development, education, and social justice—core pillars that communities need now more than ever.
Counselling, Communities and Social Work
Courses in this subject area enable students to explore key issues surrounding Brexit, globalisation, leadership, migration, individual wellbeing, and the future.
Education Studies and Teacher Training
UEL is a highly successful provider of education, early childhood, special needs, and teacher education and training programmes. We play a key role in the provision of education services and professional development throughout East London and beyond. We promote a strong research culture, building on our reputation for innovation within education and communities.
Psychology
Our courses are delivered by industry experts and we ensure our students have plenty of opportunities to engage with community projects and get hands-on, real world experience through placements.
We have a long-standing Psychology community at UEL and have built a strong reputation for psychology education, professional training and research. Our Department of Psychology and Human Development will continue to lead in understanding the complexities of the human mind, contributing invaluable insights into how people grow, learn, and interact with the world around them.
