Sriram Mahesh's story
Sriram Mahesh's story
Indian cinema is more than just entertainment; it is a celebration. I found myself deeply inspired by this vibrant film culture and began to imagine stories that I wanted to see on the screen. This love for storytelling and the magic of films led me to pursue filmmaking as a career.
My interest in filmmaking was driven by my love for writing and visualising emotions on screen. The process of bringing scripts to life, capturing emotions, and telling stories through visuals gave me immense satisfaction. Initially, I faced communication difficulties due to my introverted nature and the new environment, but the collaborative and supportive atmosphere of my time at UEL helped me integrate and develop my skills.
Whilst in the UK, I had the chance to intern at a media company, which further honed my editing skills. This experience was pivotal in shaping my professional capabilities and provided me with a deeper understanding of the industry.
After completing my studies, I returned to India and started working in the Indian film industry. I had the opportunity to work on celebrity shoots with renowned names like Shahrukh Khan and Shilpa Shetty. I also worked on a couple of Tamil movies. These experiences were invaluable, but my most significant achievement was starting my own company focused on photography and videography. We specialise in product photography, corporate advertisements, and big event coverage, including weddings.
To keep my creativity alive, I turn to reading books, which provide a refreshing escape from the exhausting world of social media. Books inspire new ideas and fuel my creative process. My advice to aspiring film students is to embrace the process and enjoy every moment. Moving to a new country can be daunting, but with an open mind and a willingness to adapt, you can overcome any challenge.
