London has always been a dream destination for me, and UEL's vibrant and unique campus drew me in. I applied for an undergraduate degree in Forensic Science and after graduating at UEL in 2016, I took a break from my career and had my daughter in 2017.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, I realised that I wanted to continue studying and challenge myself to do more and pursue a master’s in psychology. I knew that pursuing a master's degree in psychology would be the perfect way to connect my background in forensic science with my interest in the human mind.

Despite my doubts about balancing motherhood and university, I decided to take the plunge and enrol in UEL's part-time graduate course which has helped tremendously. I applied for the PGS scholarship at UEL, not holding out much hope, but to my surprise, I got it!

During my course, I was given the opportunity to become a psychology honorary assistant with the NHS. This experience in the industry not only helped me to build my inner confidence but also ignited my interest in clinical psychology.

One of the most rewarding experiences was speaking in front of a large group of prospective students at one of UEL’s Open Evenings. I never thought I would have the confidence to speak in front of so many people. During this talk, I reminded everyone that we all have strengths and talents that we can showcase. We just have to believe in ourselves and go for it.

Reflecting on my journey, I am amazed at how much I have achieved. I obtained my undergraduate degree, balanced a master's degree and motherhood, secured a PGS scholarship, and landed a role with the NHS alongside my studies. My journey at UEL has not only taught me the importance of hard work and perseverance but has also shown me that if I believe in myself, anything is possible.

I hope that my story inspires others to pursue their dreams and never give up. UEL has been a life-changing experience for me, and I am grateful for every opportunity and every moment of growth.
