Colin Haye's story
Colin Haye's story
While I was born in the UK, a significant portion of my formative years was spent in Jamaica. Some of my favourite memories of Jamaica include the vibrant culture, the warmth of the people, and of course, the endless days of sunshine.
After completing my secondary education in Jamaica, I made the decision to pursue business management at the University of East London. The choice was influenced by the glowing recommendations of alumni from my college who had enjoyed their time there immensely. Moreover, UEL offered exceptional support services for students and had a fantastic diverse community that I knew I wanted to be a part of.
Transitioning back to the UK presented its challenges, particularly in adapting to a different academic structure and pace. Reintegrating into the British lifestyle and culture, as well as navigating financial hurdles, tested my resilience. However, with unwavering support from my family, especially my mother, who guided me through my academic challenges, I persevered. Her influence instilled in me discipline and determination, fuelling my aspirations for higher education and a future in marketing.
Reflecting on my journey, I am grateful for the cultural diversity and educational opportunities both Jamaica and the UK have provided me. As I navigate university life and prepare for a career in marketing, I carry with me the invaluable lessons learned from each chapter of my life, shaping my aspirations, and driving my determination to succeed. My post-graduation goals include pursuing a master's degree and potentially a PhD in marketing.
