Academic Board and Committees
The University has several different academic boards as part of its governance.
Academic Board
Academic Board is Chaired by the Vice Chancellor and President. The membership includes student representation alongside academic and professional services staff.
The remit of the Board is to discuss and approve key items reviewed at the Education & Experience, Impact & Innovation and Careers & Enterprise Committees.
Key items include:
- Policies
- Regulations relating to student experience
- Academic partnerships
- Research
- Academic and Professional Services papers on the different facets of the University related to the student journey.
It reports directly to the Board of Governors.
Education & Experience Committee (EEC)
The Education & Experience Committee (EEC) leads the strategic objectives for student engagement, experience and success.
The Committee receives reports relating to quality assurance and enhancement and reviews regulations, policies/procedures and monitoring of key student experience activities.
EEC reports directly to Academic Board.
Impact and Innovation Committee (IIC)
The Impact and Innovation Committee (IIC)leads the strategic objectives for research enterprise and innovation. The Committee is responsible for monitoring and reporting on the success of policies and procedures relating to all aspects of activity within the Impact and Innovation portfolio, including:
- the 'lifecycle' of researcher development (from research in the UG curriculum
- quality and success of research supervision;
- ethics and research integrity;
- academic activity generating research income, producing world class, multidisciplinary, impactful research;
- provision of consultancy and contract research to business and third sector organizations.
Policies, regulations and procedures relevant to research and innovation are reviewed at this Committee.
IIC reports to Academic Board.
Careers & Enterprise Committee (C&EC)
The Careers & Enterprise Committee (C&EC) leads the strategic objectives for the successful achievement of the Future Professional and related transformational projects.
These objectives focus on graduate employment, enterprise, partnerships and portfolio diversification.
Policies, regulations and procedures and activities relevant to work experience and collaborative partnerships are reviewed at this Committee.
C&EC reports to Academic Board.
