Meet Krasimira
University of East London - #BeTheNext Creator - Krasimira Stoyneva
Krasimira Stoyneva is an award-winning fashion designer who pioneers the use of new materials and campaigns against animal cruelty with her slogan WEAR HAIR NOT FUR.
From late bloomer...
Krasimira came to UEL as a mature student after moving to England from her native Bulgaria. Having initially studied fine art she wanted to develop a way to express her creativity in a more functional and focused context – an ambition that led her to study fashion.
Unsure of her final destination, she applied to UEL late in the year and received a place on the Foundation Year, providing her with the fundamental skills and academic training to progress onto a BA.
...to Award winner
The experience was life-changing, leading her to win the Diversity Now ‘Highly Commended’ award and the Vogue & Muuse ‘Young Vision’ award soon after graduating with a first class degree.
Krasimira has since established her own fashion label and is gaining recognition for her use of a synthetic hair material that she developed as an alternative to fur. She now collaborates with musicians, writers and artists – including Sophie Tea – to push her designs forward, while also teaching and mentoring to pass on her knowledge to the next generation of fashion designers.
