Graduate outcomes survey
What’s the Graduate Outcomes Survey?
It’s a way to understand more about your career path and experiences after leaving higher education.

Do I need to take the survey?
Taking the survey helps you and your fellow UEL alumni. By giving up to date information about your employment you can help UEL become more reputable and your degree to go further.
How do I take the survey?
HESA, the organisation that delivers the survey, will be in touch via email or phone to complete the survey. HESA want to collect as many responses as possible. It’s best to take ten minutes to complete the survey and avoid multiple emails and calls!
I don’t have my survey!
Just in case, check your spam folder to make sure it is not there. If your details are not up to date, e.g. you changed your phone number or email address, use our form to update your details.
What job title should I use?
You want to ensure your role is accurately recorded; sometimes job titles don’t reflect what you actually do. Look out for terms like Assistant, where you may have managerial responsibilities where you need a degree. Make sure that’s mentioned in your duties.
What if I’m a carer, travelling, volunteering, or working on a portfolio?
That’s ok! If you’re not pursuing your career at this time because you’re a carer, travelling, volunteering, or working on a portfolio, make sure to say that.
What if I’m still studying while I have a part-time job?
A lot of people need to earn while still studying. Ensure you say that you’re studying as it’s the most important part of your career aspirations. Studying is your main activity!

Daniel Jinadu
BSc (Hons) Psychology, 2023
Daniel is the creator, founder, and host of Beyond Football, an initiative dedicated to inspiring personal growth and development for athletes and non-athletes alike through his YouTube channel and podcast series. As the creative director and owner of Beyond Football™ and its intellectual property, Daniel brings valuable insights into success, resilience and personal growth to a broad audience.
Reflecting on his time at UEL, Daniel says, “UEL has profoundly shaped my values and perspectives, particularly around the importance of community and the power of diverse voices. Through group projects and extracurriculars, I experienced collaboration and inclusivity first-hand. My UEL network has been a cornerstone of my career progression, opening doors to key professional opportunities and providing invaluable mentorship. One of my lecturers, for example, introduced me to a leader in my field, which led to an internship that proved to be a pivotal career moment."
Daniel adds that the friendships he formed at UEL have blossomed into a supportive professional network, noting, "We regularly exchange insights, advice, and opportunities that have significantly impacted my career growth. The UEL community is a network that offers lasting support and encouragement well beyond graduation."
In addition to Beyond Football, Daniel is a professional goalkeeper currently playing for Maidenhead FC. He trained in the renowned academies of Chelsea and West Ham United, both known for cultivating world-class talent. With outstanding shot-stopping skills, a commanding presence on the field, and natural leadership abilities, Daniel has distinguished himself as a top player in the National League.
When asked to share advice with current students and recent graduates Daniel offered, “Embrace every opportunity that comes your way and never underestimate the power of your dreams. Your time at UEL is a unique period where you can explore your interests, develop new skills, and build meaningful relationships. Take advantage of all the resources available, from academic support to extracurricular activities. Remember, challenges are a part of the journey, and every obstacle you overcome will make you stronger and more resilient. Believe in yourself, stay curious, and be willing to learn and grow. Your potential is limitless - with dedication and perseverance, you can achieve anything you set your mind to.”

Belisa Rexhaj
BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy, 2023
While at UEL, Belisa actively contributed to teaching by assisting with Physiology, Anatomy, and Rehabilitation modules, and facilitating mock exams in Anatomy and Manual Handling. These hands-on experiences helped her build strong professional relationships with students and professors across various courses, laying a solid foundation for her career.
Belisa reflects, “UEL provided the foundation for my professional development. It offered me exposure to diverse environments and challenges, enabling me to learn from both successes and setbacks. The professors were always empathetic and eager to share their expertise. UEL taught me how to become a capable therapist and helped me begin my journey with confidence."
Since graduating, Belisa has also volunteered with WeSwim, a remarkable organisation dedicated to helping people with disabilities overcome social isolation through engaging in swimming sessions. Her background in physiotherapy made her an ideal fit to provide specialised care and support as part of this initiative.
When asked for advice for current students and recent graduates, she shared: “You get what you put in. Don't focus on grades; focus on truly learning. And remember to be kind to yourself and others.”

Filiz Avcu
Education Studies, 2023
After completing her studies, Filiz quickly secured a full-time position as a cover teacher and form tutor at a local secondary school, a role she landed just a couple of months after leaving UEL—and even before her graduation date, which she considers a proud milestone.
Reflecting on her UEL experience, Filiz shares, “The lecturers were always available to help. If our questions couldn’t be answered during lectures, we could easily schedule an appointment for additional support. At UEL, I gained many skills that are invaluable to my role today, such as time management and referencing, which have greatly contributed to my personal and professional growth."
When asked for her advice to current students and recent graduates, Filiz encourages, “Make full use of the student services—especially the Wellbeing team, mentors, and the 24-hour library. During times when I felt overwhelmed, these three resources kept me strong and provided the support I needed."

Joseph Charles Dobisz
Mechanical Engineering with foundation year, 2023
Since completing his studies Joseph has secured a role with BAE Systems, a company recognised for providing some of the world's most advanced, technology-driven defence, aerospace, and security solutions.
With a skilled workforce of around 100,000 across 40 countries, BAE Systems represents a significant achievement in Joseph's career.
Reflecting on his time at UEL, Joseph shares, “My experience at UEL revitalised me. In my previous job, I struggled with low motivation and self-esteem, and I felt like I was mentally wasting away. Coming to UEL reignited that motivation and helped me rediscover myself after 15 years! I started at UEL during COVID-19, enrolling in a foundation year due to my break in education.
Over the past three years, I’ve made incredible friends on my course and developed strong relationships with lecturers who are not only experts in their fields but also supportive mentors for life advice. I also had the fantastic opportunity to intern in the CELT department, where working with Jamie and the team helped restore my confidence just when I needed it, ultimately leading to my new position.”
Joseph credits lecturers Bryan Pearce (now retired) and Sarah Catmur for focusing on the whole person rather than just academic success. He also acknowledges Dr Kalok Lee, who worked tirelessly to ensure all his students achieved their best possible grades.
When asked about the significant difference UEL has made in his life, Joseph remarked, “The confidence I gained as a leader at UEL enabled me to score the highest in the country during the recruitment process for my new position. This newfound confidence has also positively impacted my marriage; my wife has told me how wonderful it is to see the 'old' me back.”

Rajesh Jayachandran
MSc Cloud Computing, 2023
Rajesh Jayachandran graduated from UEL with an MSc in Cloud Computing in 2023. Since then, he has focused on securing a position in his field and began working at Citibank as an Assistant Vice President in DevOps Engineering in January 2023.
Reflecting on his decision to study at UEL, he shares, “I chose UEL because it offered the exact blend of courses I was looking for, which aligned perfectly with my experience. I also noticed that the student satisfaction percentage was over 80%.”
He adds, “Without UEL, I can’t imagine where I would be right now. I learned how to articulate my work more effectively, and I truly appreciate the evaluation methods that go beyond traditional exams. The education I received was closely aligned with industry expectations, which helped me transition seamlessly into the corporate world.”
When asked for advice for current students, Rajesh emphasises, “Own your work; let it be yours. Even if it’s a small piece of work, take pride in your efforts. It has its own value, regardless of whether it’s in the university setting or the corporate world.”
