2025 November Alumni of the Month
Jean Paulin Mutatsineza, Master of Business Administration (MBA), 2024
Why did you choose to study at UEL?
I chose to study Master of Business Administration (MBA), at the University of east London as it offered a flexible, supportive distance learning program with tools to track performance and improve, perfect for my busy schedule.
What is your one special memory of your time at UEL?
Although I was part of UEL’s distance learning program through UNICAF, I valued UEL’s prompt support and performance tracking tools, which kept me engaged and motivated as a distance learner.
What have you done since graduating from UEL?
Since graduating, I have transformed the Rwanda Education Assistance Project (REAP), my employer organization, by implementing a sustainable vision which was inspired by my MBA thesis on NGO financial sustainability.
What is your current job role? And what does it involve?
My current job role is Country Director at ‘REAP’. I lead strategy, programs, partnerships, and financial sustainability for impactful community projects.
How did UEL help you get to where you are now?
UEL's financial management modules helped me optimize REAP's resources, creating new processes for accountability and efficiency.
What advice would you give your younger self?
I would advise my younger self to ‘Trust yourself, embrace challenges, and turn them into opportunities for growth’.
What advice would you give to UEL current students preparing to graduate?
I would advise current students to ‘network early and leverage the skills gained at UEL as a foundation for your career’.
Tell us something about yourself that most people don’t know:
I mentor young people in my community, helping them pursue leadership and entrepreneurial goals.
If you were to do it all again, would you still choose UEL?
Definitely! The education and flexibility at UEL transformed my career and personal growth.
