2025 December Alumni of the Month
Ioanna Marmarou, BSc Psychology, 2020
Why did you choose to study at UEL?
I chose to study BSc Psychology at the University of east London as UEL offered me an accredited programme of studies by BPS, which made me feel safe and sure for my future in a psychological job position. I couldn't imagine a different place of studies.
What is your one special memory of your time at UEL?
I studied psychology in my country based on UEL's cooperation with the specific college, which gave me the opportunity to represent my colleagues to the programme committee meeting.
What have you done since graduating from UEL?
Since graduating from UEL, I continued my studies with a master’s degree at the same university.
What is your current job role? And what does it involve?
My current job is to cooperate with children as a psychologist through the facilities of educational coaching school. I love my job and love working with them.
How did UEL help you get to where you are now?
UEL helped to get a completed view of all the areas of the field of psychology, which made me feel confident and sure about the challenges which I may face in my future.
What advice would you give your younger self?
I would advise my younger self ‘to choose again the specific studies in the specific university’.
What advice would you give to UEL current students preparing to graduate?
I would advise UEL current students to ‘trust the experts of this university and to be open to new perspectives and new friendships along the way’.
Tell us something about yourself that most people don’t know:
I want to help people so much to cope with their life, which is something that defines many of my life decisions.
If you were to do it all again, would you still choose UEL?
I would definitely choose UEL all over again.
