Hosting External Examinations

External Examination Candidates Sitting Examinations at UEL

The University of East London (UEL) is available to host examinations on behalf of other institutions outside of our own examination periods.  UEL can provide an administrative and invigilation service in compliance with our examination regulations.

 Charged if the answer paper is required to be sent by registered post. No charge for electronic sending.

The fee includes the costs of a professional invigilator managing the exam, the reservation of the exam room and any administrative costs incurred by the university.   The fee must be paid at the time of booking.

Cancellation Policy:

Where the candidate fails to attend the examination(s), or cancels the booking with less than 3 working days’ notice of the exam date, the full fee will be charged.
If a cancellation notice is provided at least 3 working days prior to the exam date, fees paid will be refunded. 

Booking procedure:

  • Applications should be submitted at least 14 days ahead of the examination date(s).    It may not be possible to make the arrangements if less notice is given.
  • The candidate must provide the permission from the Examinations Unit at their own institution for their examination to take place at the University of East London.   Their agreement must be made by email to:  exams@uel.ac.uk or by post to the following address:

  • Once payment has been received, a receipt will be provided, along with the confirmation of the exam date and time and details of when and where to report to on the exam day(s).
  • UEL will confirm the exam requirements with the home institution
