Ruth Hunt
Senior Lecturer

Ruth is a senior lecturer in education and has worked across Early Childhood, Education and Initial Teacher Education over the past 10 years at UEL. Her teaching and research are informed by a Children’s Rights perspective. She has been a course leader for two undergraduate courses at UEL and currently leads modules on the BA Primary Education with Qualified Teaching Status course.

OVERVIEW
Ruth is an experienced Early Years and KS1 teacher and has enjoyed teaching in inner-city London. Ruth combined her role as a class teacher with that of a specialist Forest School teacher. Ruth has an Early Years PGCE and an MA in Education and has been Vice-Chair of Governors for a primary school. Ruth has a background in teaching English as an Additional Language and English for Academic Purposes in London, mainland Europe and Asia. Ruth is currently working on her PhD, exploring participant experiences of school-based interventions in primary schools.
Ruth is particularly interested in Social and Emotional Wellbeing in schools, the ways in which we think about children's behaviour and how these inform our pedagogy. Within Higher Education, Ruth is interested in how lecturers’ pedagogy is informed by their values.
CURRENT RESEARCH
Ruth is a PhD student at UEL in the School of Childhood and Social Care. Her research focus is a Critical Realist Evaluation of a Social and Emotional Intervention in an English primary school.
